Math in Sports
You use math in hockey, because you have to figure out what angle to shoot from, how far on your backswing you need to go, how close you should get, how much time/space you need to stop, and how much power you need. Also, how fast can you skate while keeping control of the puck?
In soccer how far should you slide to check somebody? How strong is your shot? From how far away can you kick it and still hit the net? How high up should you jump to head the ball?
In baseball, you use math because you have to figure out how far to hit to get on base. If you are a pitcher, how hard should you throw to get a strike? Can you hit it high enough or hard enough to beat the throw?
You can use math in football because you have to figure out if your field goal kicker can kick the ball through the uprights.
In basketball, math is found in the angle you are shooting from, how high you need to jump to put the ball in the net, and how far in you need to shoot from.
The times in sports where you use math, which I have listed are only some of the numerous places you can find math. Many times you use math without noticing, in your everyday life.
